Interview With Jessica Shorstein
What do you do at The Legal Department?
As a Business Attorney here at The Legal Department, I help clients form new business entities and also review already-formed entities to ensure clients have the best structure in place for the work that they do. I also draft contracts and other legal documents to ensure our clients’ businesses and interests are protected as they get started and continue to grow.
What do you like most about what you do?
I love being able to assist clients with the legal and compliance aspects of their businesses so they can focus on their own important day-to-day work providing services for their own clients. I also enjoy knowing that I’m playing a small part in ensuring the sound operation of small businesses across our state.
Who are your favorite clients to work with?
Entrepreneurs and any business owners who are passionate about the work they do and the services they provide.
What is special or unique about helping professional service providers?
In addition to relationships with vendors, suppliers, and others, these businesses often have regular clients that they engage with on an ongoing basis, so it’s important to have the right legal documents in place to ensure that these relationships run smoothly for the long term and that our clients remain protected.
What are two words your friends would use to describe you?
Creative. Curious.
