Interview With Heather Hodgett
What do you do at The Legal Department?
I am a Business Attorney with The Legal Department. As the second Attorney in our company, I serve to lighten the load for our founder and fearless leader Laurie Lee.
In my role as Business Attorney I wear many hats. I help our clients who are just starting out, forming companies for them and getting their documents in order in an effort to keep them protected and shielded from any unnecessary liability. I also work with established clients who need to update their contracts or are looking to find a better way to structure their businesses.
What do you like most about what you do?
I love learning about so many different types of businesses. When I meet a client for the first time, I often find that we chat well beyond our scheduled time period. Our clients range from very young entrepreneurs to retirees who are reinventing themselves and starting a new career. I find it truly fascinating how many niche markets there are and how a creative thinker can turn a hobby into a successful business.
Who are your favorite clients to work with?
I enjoy working with clients who are excited about their chosen field and are willing to share how they found their way to their current vocation.
What is special or unique about helping professional service providers?
Service providers are obviously all individuals but most of them show a similar character in that their ultimate goal at the end of the day is to have a satisfied customer. We too have that same goal. Working with people who are serving others by sharing their expertise is a very uplifting and gratifying way to spend my workday.
What are two words your friends would use to describe you?
Positive, trustworthy.
