Interview With Jena Crews
What do you do at The Legal Department?
As the Director of Client & Community Connections for The Legal Department, I serve as the bridge between our clients and the attorney. My purpose is to meet with every potential new client to get to know them and their business, hear out their goals and concerns, and help determine their needs. If we determine we are a good fit for one another, I guide them through our onboarding process and link them to the attorney for legal work to begin. Once their matter is finished, I also get a chance to discuss their experience with our firm and gather helpful feedback from their reviews and testimonials. In between client relationships, I also spend time out in the community, meeting the many business professionals and owners that Jacksonville and the surrounding areas are lucky enough to have in our midst!
What do you like most about what you do?
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I truly believe it is my purpose to do so. This position allows me to do just that in a new way that I hadn’t thought of before finding Laurie and The Legal Department. Helping our clients understand how our processes work and that we are here to be a collaborative partner for them is so fulfilling. Calling into a law firm or working with one can be intimidating, so being able to put our clients at ease is important. And even when a professional calls in with a need we can’t assist with, being able to help them find a firm that specializes in what they need is something I really enjoy. Our people appreciate the fact that we listen and care, and that’s been my favorite part of this position.
Who are your favorite clients to work with?
I love working with and talking with clients who have a true, apparent passion for their work. A lot of our clients get into the businesses they own because of a mission or a calling they feel very close to, and they are all genuine experts in their fields. Getting to hear them talk about what they love to do is so much fun.
What is special or unique about helping professional service providers?
Just like my favorite part of this job for myself, our professional service providers thrive by helping their own clients. They are using their knowledge, expertise, and years of experience to help their customers, and when they come to us we get to do the same for them.
What are two words your friends would use to describe you?
Thoughtful. Ambitious.
