Interview With Jena Crews

What do you do at The Legal Department?
As the Executive Director of Operations for The Legal Department, I keep our firm running smoothly behind the scenes while ensuring our team stays focused on what matters most — serving our clients. I oversee the marketing pipeline, coordinate projects, and make sure our systems and team members are aligned and moving forward. In addition, I support the business with HR, finance, and administrative tasks, while also managing vendor relationships and events. In short, I serve as the integrator — the person who keeps all of the moving pieces connected so our attorneys and staff can provide the best experience possible for our clients.

What do you like most about what you do?
I love that this role allows me to combine organization, strategy, and people-centered leadership. I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and in this position, I get to do that by making sure both our clients and our team feel supported. Whether it’s smoothing out a process, managing a project, or helping a teammate stay on track, I enjoy knowing that my work makes things easier and more effective for everyone. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch ideas and plans come to life because I was able to connect the dots and keep things moving.

Who are your favorite clients to work with?
I especially enjoy working with clients who bring real passion and energy to their businesses. Many of our professional service providers are deeply committed to their work and their missions, and it’s inspiring to see their dedication. Getting to partner with people who truly love what they do makes supporting them through our firm’s services even more meaningful.

What is special or unique about helping professional service providers?
Professional service providers thrive by using their skills and expertise to help others — and that’s exactly what we do for them. We understand the weight of responsibility they carry for their own clients, so when they come to us, we’re able to take on some of that burden and provide guidance they can trust. It’s a unique partnership because we’re both in the business of helping people, just in different ways.

What are two words your friends would use to describe you?
Thoughtful. Ambitious.
